Pavillon de Chavannes Cote de Brouilly Cuvee des Ambassades 2022

Pavillon de Chavannes Cote de Brouilly Cuvee des Ambassades 2022

__

Cru Beaujolais from Mont Brouilly’s blue volcanic soils. Very old-school Gamay from Beaujolais in the best sense: garnet color, beguiling aromatics and a burst of refreshment in the mouth that is savory, mineral and toothsome. 20,000 bottles.

Rated 93pts by John Gilman, View From the Cellar - "It has been eight months since I last tasted the 2022 vintage of Domaine des Chavannes’ “Cuvée des Ambassades” and the wine has continued to blossom beautifully. As I noted back in December, the wine is nicely low in octane for the vintage, tipping the scales at only 12.5 percent alcohol. The deep and complex aromatic constellation offers up a lovely red fruity mix of cherries, red plums, pomegranate, as well as notes of pigeon, woodsmoke, a lovely base of stony soil tones, a touch of fresh thyme and a floral topnote redolent of peonies. On the palate the wine is fullbodied, focused, vibrant and complex, with a lovely foundation of soil, excellent depth of fruit at the core, modest tannins and a long, elegant and beautifully balanced finish. As I mentioned in December, the 2022 Cuvée des Ambassades has the depth and backend stuffing to age beautifully, but it is already drinking with style and grace right out of the blocks."
